Tales From A Distant Island

Seven Interactive Fables

7Fables is an interactive narrative featuring seven strange, and occasionally nautical tales from a mysterious island. Each story branches based on your choices, creating 49+ unique narrative paths.

Fully illustrated with detailed watercolor + digital paintings, voiced with 62 audio tracks and music. Discover morals at your own risk.

Choose your own adventure meets literary fable.

The Two Brothers

Two brothers fish together successfully. One is clever, the other quick. The clever brother insists they must sail where the wind leads to find their true destiny. The quick brother wants to stay where they were born. They argue for days but finally agree to leave. At sea, they discover their boat has no clear bow. The looking glass shows only what you bring to it. The winds push them in circles.

They cannot agree on which direction is forward.

The Black Pot

Three brothers sail to seek their fortunes. The youngest spares a silver bird, a queen bee, and a white whale. His older brothers show no such mercy. When strong winds blow their boat toward rocky cliffs, they see find tiny people watching from the island above. Their sail tears.

The boat cracks on the rocks.

The Egg

A farmer finds in his henhouse a small, pink angel with no feathers. The angel learns life from the chickens: crowing at dawn, pawing at dust, eating beetles. As weeks pass it grows larger and makes terrible messes. It never speaks. The family watches in horror from the kitchen window.

The farmer is afraid to go outside.

A 13-Year Journey

7Fables began as a Kickstarter project in 2012, funded by 150+ backers who believed in these stories. After an 11-year hiatus, we're finally delivering the digital app—a commitment fulfilled.

Thank you for your patience, your faith, and your support. This one's for you.

Blossoms

A young couple walks through a field carrying seeds. They arrive late to an old couple's house on a hill. A tree in the yard blooms with pink blossoms. The breeze whispers over the hill. When a blossom falls and drifts toward them, the young man catches it carefully in his cupped hands. The young woman leans forward to look inside.

What she sees should not be there.

The Boy That Learned To Fly

A boy that is fishing speaks with a visiting tern and the bird convinces the boy to share his fish. In exchange the bird teaches the boy to fly. But soon the village, suspicious of this pact, try to trap them both.

Learning to fish can collect more than minnows.

The Pig & The Disciple

A dying master tells his student a terrible secret: he will be reborn as a pig with a black circle around its eye. He begs the student to kill that piglet when it is born so he can escape this fate. The student reluctantly agrees. Weeks later, the pig is born - with a black circle around its eye. The student sharpens his knife and walks to where the sow and her piglets are suckling.

The student freezes in doubled disbelief.

The Turtle & The Monkey

A monkey lives in an apple tree by the beach. The apples taste sweet as honey. He shares them with a tortoise who visits every afternoon to talk in the shade. One evening the tortoise brings apples home to his sick wife. She eats one and asks where he found such fruit.

The tortoise and his wife hatch a plan.
